Carfagna’s welcomes Alexander Valley Vineyards to lead us through a Wine Blending Seminar.
“Blending a wine that is superior to any one component is the winemaker’s challenge and triumph”… AVV
Most of Alexander Valley Vineyards’ wines are blended. They blend two or more grape varieties or two or more clones of the same variety. They also blend grapes grown in different vineyards. After a vintage has aged in a variety of barrels, blending adds the nuances of various oak types, ages and cooper’s styles to the wine. These techniques are essential in creating complexity and life in a wine.
Join us as Trey Johnson of AVV leads us through a blending seminar with barrel samples shipped for this event:
- 4/5 varietals to create a blend using stuff you used in your chemistry class in high school!
- 6 teams of 4 create a blend, create a label & marketing schema; then we will blind taste all 6 wines to select the best blend.
- Antipasto and pizzas to nibble on through the tasting…. and finish off with a glass of AVV Homestead Red Blend.
